Toddler Yoga

Toddler Yoga is a continuation from baby yoga. It is a great way to introduce young children (18 months – 3 years) to stretches, movements, story-telling and nursery rhymes.

Our classes are based around using yoga inspired poses and movements alongside sensory play, with a backdrop of songs, and traditional and modern stories. This helps to make it fun and engaging for both toddlers and parents.

Our toddler yoga class has a strong emphasis on child development, and is aimed at teaching key life skills through control, focus, creativity and discipline. The classes are designed with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) in mind to help support language, communication and literacy. Tools used include –

  • storytelling;
  • song and physical movement via yoga-inspired moves;
  • mathematics through shapes and counting;
  • understanding the world through sensory play;
  • expressive arts and design through fun;
  • inspiring sensory development through movement.

 

 

Benefits of Toddler Yoga

  • Promotes a healthy body through poses and stretches, and helps with coordination and balance.
  • Promotes social skills due to its inclusive nature. It does not focus on levels of ability or winning. It instead encourages you to be the best you can be, and putting the focus on one’s self.
  • Encourages mindfulness, and via stories and nursery rhymes helps build confidence and instil a strong mindful message and focus on breathing.
  • Creates a calm atmosphere that can often see a change in behaviour and better self-regulation.
